Job Title: Salaried General Practitioner Place of Work: 33 Bell Lane, Burham Rochester Kent ME1 3SX and Whitehouse Surgery: Mackenders Lane Eccles Aylesford, Kent ME20 7HX Sessions & Days of Work: 4 sessions per week – Thursdays & Fridays (open to applications from the GP Retainer Scheme) Annual leave: Six weeks annual leave plus Bank Holidays (prorated) Study leave: One week per annum (prorated) Salary: Negotiable and subject to qualifications and experience Accountable to: The Principal GP Reports to: The Principal GP (clinically) and The Practice Manager (administratively) Main Purpose
To provide NHS personal medical services to registered patients on the practice list, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients. Clinical Responsibilities
Conduct surgery consultations, remote and telephone consultations, triage, and checking and signing repeat prescriptions. Deal with medical queries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion. Provide duty doctor cover as required and respond to medical problems presented by temporary residents. Make professional, autonomous decisions for presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other health‑care workers. Assess the health‑care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems. Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness. Develop care plans in line with current practice disease‑management protocols. Assist in establishing appropriate systems to manage common chronic medical conditions (e.g. asthma, COPD, diabetes). Provide counselling and health education. Refer patients for further opinions and interventions according to practice protocols. Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards using templates where appropriate. Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions; prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary. Be prepared to take part in the evening or early morning rota for improved and extended access. Promote patient participation in clinical research trials that the practice is engaged with, where appropriate. Administrative Responsibilities
Maintain, monitor and update the computer database and manage medical records. Ensure the practice clinical database is updated promptly and accurately. Respond to alerts on records and use appropriate read/SNOWMED codes via templates where appropriate. Participate in the collection and collation of statistics for practice reports, performance monitoring and audits. Participate in patient satisfaction audits and work involved for CQC compliance. Organise and conduct private medicals as required. Attend primary health‑care team meetings, audit meetings and annual complaint audit meetings as deemed necessary. Initiate and participate in the formulation and implementation of new protocols, policies and procedures. Ensure adherence to the practice complaints system at all times. Maintain current CPR, anaphylaxis and safeguarding certificates; complete information governance training. Confidentiality
Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient, carer, colleague, and practice information in accordance with policy and procedure. Health & Safety
Assist in promoting and maintaining own and others' health, safety and security. Use personal security systems and provide immune consent information, including Hepatitis B status. Identify risks and undertake activities to manage those risks. Apply appropriate infection control procedures, particularly for needle stick injuries.
