New Directions Education is seeking a committed and adaptable SEND Support Assistant to join a well-regarded specialist secondary school in Wavertree. This is a full-time, ongoing opportunity with the possibility of a permanent role for the right individual.
About the School:
1. A forward-thinking secondary SEND school catering to pupils aged 11–18 with complex learning needs, including moderate to severe learning difficulties and associated conditions such as ASD and sensory processing disorders.

3. A collaborative and friendly environment where staff are encouraged to share ideas, innovate, and grow professionally.
The Role:
4. Providing consistent, 1:1 and small group support to students with EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans), helping them access a personalised curriculum.
5. Implementing strategies recommended by therapists and external agencies, including visual timetables, sensory diets, and communication aids such as PECs or Makaton.
6. Encouraging independence and confidence in students through structured routines and positive reinforcement.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
7. Ideally have experience in a specialist or mainstream education setting, or a background in care, mental health, youth work, or social care.
8. Be willing to complete or already hold an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
9. We also welcome candidates from the following backgrounds: care work, healthcare/NHS, support work, sports coaching, childcare/nursery work, youth work, or mentoring.
