Job overview
We seek to appoint an experienced Band 6 Nurse who must have experience in community working and working with children and their families. Ideally you will have a working knowledge of ADHD and Autism. Candidates will be supported to become competent in the management and review of children and young people with ADHD and supported to work in clinic settings as well as undertaking comprehensive assessments for a designated cohort of children from the neurodevelopmental pathway.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, a real interest and knowledge of ADHD and Autism and a commitment to working in partnership with other agencies and local communities to deliver the best possible outcomes for children, young people and their families.
The post holder will be contributing to a comprehensive initial assessment process. The role will include supporting the team to oversee the management of children with a confirmed or emerging diagnosis of a Neurodevelopmental condition. The service is currently undergoing an exciting transformation and internal remodelling which the post holder will be invited to contribute towards.
The post holder will be responsible for the supervision of other staff within the team and contributing to a positive team culture.
Car Driver/ owner essential. There will be an expectation to work across bases within Derby and Derbyshire as required.
Main duties of the job
·Assessing and interpreting the needs of this special client group, and determining theappropriate clinical actions to be taken.
·Working on own initiative with significant autonomy in terms of ‘on the spot’ clinical decision making.
·Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to meet the comprehensive needs of children with ADHD, ASD and
other comorbidities.
·Manage risk, provide relatedadvice and makenecessary referrals to other agencies as needed.
·Use a range of standardised and non-standardised assessment tools to aidand inform care planning and evaluation.
·Formulate individual care plans based on the child’s identified needs, evidence basedstandards of care and working towards meeting the NICE guidelines.
·Initiate appropriate and timely consultation and / or referral when the clinical situationexceeds the nurse’s scope of practice and / or expertise.
·Provide written reports.
·Child protection – identify and respond to risks and maintain currenttraining in this area.
·Undertake research and audit as necessary to the post.
·To maintain current NMC registration, professional development and Revalidation.
·To be able to travel a geographical area of Derby City and Derbyshire county.
·Respond to the needs of the transformation and partnerships within the service including Joined up Care Derbyshire.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
·Teaching & assessing Qualification.
·Knowledge of implementation of Safeguarding procedures.
·Knowledge of early support processes in the City and the County.
·Post Registration experience of community working / working with school aged childrenwith complex needs and their families.
·Experience of multi agency and multi professional working.
·Experience of analysing complex data and presenting this in a logical format.
