Technical Coordinator (Mechanical/Electrical) – Wastewater Operations
We are looking for a Technical Coordinator to join our Wastewater Operations Team working across the Thames Valley North area, based at Oxford Sewage Treatment Works, working as part of a close and supportive Field Operations team.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate complex maintenance activities, working closely with in‑house teams and external contractors.
* Ensure compliance with legal statutory maintenance obligations for items such as lifting equipment, pressure vessels and generators.
* Maintain plant availability KPI across the estate, driving improvement and striving for best practice.
* Act as technical mentor for the maintenance team, including apprentices.
* Manage pre‑requisites within SAP (materials, permits, resources and services) for all complex jobs.
* Use technical expertise and field data to design operationally critical jobs.
* Highlight key operational risks, prepare presentations for funding.
* Maintain availability of plant and equipment, optimise treatment process performance.
* Develop strong collaborative relationships with other internal and external stakeholders.
* Provide expert advice on technical issues and generate solutions to operational risks.
* Obtain quotes, order materials and 3rd‑party services through framework contractors.
* Ensure all health and safety aspects are correctly managed – safe system of work approvals, RAMS reviews, permitting and site audits.
Location & Working Pattern
Base location: Oxford STW – OX4 4YU. Travel to various sites across the Thames Valley North area required. Working pattern: 36 hours, Monday–Friday, 7:30 – 15:36.
Requirements
* Valid UK driving licence.
* Relevant experience in Water or Wastewater treatment or comparable industry, preferably as a Mechanical and Electrical technician or ICA technician.
* Time served as an apprentice and a relevant technical qualification.
* Highly logical – able to decide on and build dependencies between tasks.
* Collaborative – able to work closely with Planners, Field Performance Managers, suppliers and 3rd parties.
* Technically experienced with a good understanding of maintaining assets.
* Good local knowledge of asset importance to a site and inter‑asset relationships.
* Meticulous in documenting finer details of required actions.
* Ability to manage a large workload of numerous jobs in parallel.
* Competent with IT systems (SAP extensively) and effective communication skills.
* Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry.
* Clean driving licence essential due to travelling.

* Salary from £47,000 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.
