Job Description Summary
The Senior Staff Software Engineer will be responsible for the software implementation of algorithms for GE Aerospace’s bespoke analytics tools. This includes developing, managing, and deploying the software. You will work as part of a close-knit SW development team focused on increasing product functionality and robustness, collaborating with in-house data scientists and analysts to identify and prioritize product enhancements. You should be able to quickly assimilate new requirements and translate these into working solutions.
Location
Based out of our Chandlers Ford site near Southampton, this is a hybrid working role.
Role and Responsibilities
* Work within a small team providing bespoke analytical products to data scientists.
* Maintain and develop software based on Python and C++, covering large data processing and algorithm implementation.
* Participate in Agile development processes, including regular team discussions and contributions to future developments.
* Use Microsoft Azure DevOps or similar tools for software development and deployment.
Essential Experience
* Proven programming experience in Python 3.x with packages like Numpy, Pandas, Scipy.
* Good understanding of C++ and STL.
* Knowledge of Data Structures, Software Design Patterns, and Test Driven Development.
* Experience with CI environments, Git, Unit Testing, and Code Coverage.
* Adherence to coding standards such as PEP8.
* Basic knowledge of statistics and linear algebra, with interest in developing these skills.
Desirable Skills
* Interest in Aerospace.
* Experience with Python C interfaces, C/C++ extensions, Azure DevOps, SonarQube, Machine Learning, Linux, Apache Spark.
* Knowledge of parallelization techniques.
General Skills
* Ability to work independently or in a team.
* Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical topics.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field (e.g., Computer Science, Maths, Data Science, Physics) and relevant experience.
