Calibration & Test Equipment Engineer (Electronics) Contract with potential extension / possible permanent opportunity Stevenage | Fully Onsite 37 hours per week £23.82 £26.04 per hour PAYE £32.00 £35.00 per hour Umbrella (Inside IR35) The opportunity Were looking for a hands-on Electronics Calibration & Test Equipment Engineer to join a well-established Calibration & Maintenance team supporting complex electronic test equipment used in advanced defence manufacturing. This is a practical, bench-based role ideal for someone who enjoys fault-finding, repair, commissioning and calibration of electronic test equipment down to component level. Youll work with a wide range of test systems, from DC through to RF and Microwave, supporting critical production and test activities. Youll be joining a skilled, supportive team where training is provided on special-to-type test equipment, with genuine scope for contract extension or longer-term opportunities. What youll actually be working on This role is very hands-on. Youll be involved in: Fault-finding and repairing electronic test and measurement equipment to component level Calibration and maintenance of test equipment in line with documented procedures Commissioning and acceptance of new or modified test equipment and facilities Supporting production and test teams with practical technical advice Maintaining clear calibration and maintenance records for full traceability Typical equipment and systems include: Oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, signal/function generators Special-to-Type Test Equipment (STTE) DIO, AIO, RF, temperature and communications-based test systems RF test equipment (desirable, not essential) What were really looking for You dont need to come from a design background this role suits practical, hands-on engineers. Essential: Experience maintaining, repairing or calibrating electronic test equipment Confident fault-finding using drawings, manuals and technical documentation Solid understanding of calibration principles and test processes HNC / HND in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (or equivalent practical experience) Comfortable managing multiple tasks in a production environment Desirable (not essential): Experience using RF or microwave test equipment Exposure to complex or bespoke test systema Why this role appeals to engineers Stable onsite role no site hopping Interesting, varied test equipment (not repetitive servicing) Supportive team environment with training on specialised equipment Strong likelihood of extension and longer-term opportunities Work that genuinely supports critical manufacturing programmes What happens now?
