Due to our growth, we are seeking to hire an Arboriculturist with rail infrastructure experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be resourceful, resilient, and skilled in time and workload management, with proven experience in the rail sector.
Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to manage, lead, advise, and assist within the Access Point, De-Vegetation, and Land Management Project teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct rail arboriculture surveys and inspections.
* Analyze survey data, draft mitigation documentation, and deliver risk and control briefings.
* Review survey results and mapping, and produce arborist reports.
* Create vegetation management scopes for tendering.
* Develop mitigation strategies in compliance with legislation, liaising with environmental specialists and project teams.
* Provide ecological advice to site managers, engineers, and planners.
* Build effective relationships with stakeholders, including statutory bodies and local authorities.
* Conduct site surveys and provide pre-planning advice.
* Apply knowledge of tree biology for maintenance activities.
Experience & Qualifications
Experience:
* Rail industry experience.
* Strong arboriculture experience.
* Land management experience.
Qualifications:
* Level 2 Certificate in Felling and Processing Trees.
* Level 2 Certificate in Arboriculture.
* Level 2 Diploma in Forestry and Arboriculture.
* Level 4 or BTEC diploma in Arboriculture and Forestry or similar higher qualification.
* BSc or MSc in Arboriculture and Forestry (advantageous).
Technical Skills
* Knowledge of railway environment regulations.
* Understanding of arboriculture and land management legislation.
* Leadership skills for managing ECoWs.
* Excellent documentation and briefing skills.
* Strong record-keeping abilities.
Additional Skills
* Full UK Driving License.
* PTS certification.
* SMSTS/SSSTS certification.
