About the Role
This is a Full:Time Cover Supervisor position in a highly:regarded secondary school setting located in Wakefield, with a scheduled start date in January.
The core purpose of the role is to supervise classes and ensure students complete work that has been pre:set by the absent teacher. It requires the post:holder to be a confident and authoritative presence in the classroom, maintaining discipline and a constructive learning atmosphere. The role is pivotal in supporting the continuity of the curriculum and is ideal for someone seeking significant experience in an educational environment, potentially as a stepping stone to teacher training. The work is varied, covering multiple subjects across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring no two days are quite the same.

Requirements
* Prior experience working with secondary school:aged young people (e.g., in a paid or voluntary capacity).
* A genuine passion for supporting young peoples learning and development.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness for one)

* Strong Organisational Skills: For managing classroom materials, registers, and collecting work efficiently.
Responsibilities
* Supervise students undertaking work set by the absent teacher, ensuring tasks are clear.
* Manage the classroom environment to ensure a productive and orderly workspace.
* Implement the schools behaviour policy firmly and fairly, managing minor incidents.
* Take the lesson register and ensure it is completed accurately and promptly.
* Collect all completed student work at the end of the lesson for the class teacher.
* Provide accurate, objective feedback to the class teacher on student conduct and work completion.
* Deal with any immediate emergencies or issues that arise, following school procedures.
* Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and mutual understanding among students.
* Adhere strictly to all school policies, including safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality.
* Support students with process queries related to the set task, avoiding active teaching of new content.
