Public Health Community Staff Nurse 5-19 – School Nursing
We are seeking an energetic Band 5 Public Health Staff Nurse to work within the School Nursing Team based in North Hertfordshire and Stevenage. The role requires the ability to work autonomously, manage your own caseload, and work effectively as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver care, support and advice to children and their families attending mainstream schools across the Royston, Baldock, Letchworth, Hitchin, Knebworth and Stevenage areas.
* Administer online health questionnaires to Y6 children and liaise with parents as required.
* Conduct brief interventions following triage and allocation by a Public Health Nurse, adhering to agreed care pathways.
* Support schools in writing education and health care plans for children with complex health needs, coordinating with specialist health professionals.
* Proactively manage a caseload, prioritising cases based on risk and level of need, with regular supervision from a Public Health Nurse.
* Work flexible hours within the core service window of 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, with occasional Saturday work as needed.
* Use electronic health assessment tools and electronic records as part of routine practice.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Band 5 qualified nurse with NHS experience.
* Full, valid UK driving licence and access to a car for business use, unless exempted by disability as defined in the Equality Act 2010.
* Excellent communication skills to interact with children, families, professionals and staff.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Willingness to use electronic record‑keeping systems and mobile working arrangements.
