VAWA Grant Funded Law Clerk
Examples of Duties
* Assists attorneys within the Department of Law in research and drafting legal memoranda, pleadings, and motions.
* Develops legal training materials for the Department.
* Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED is required. Must be currently enrolled or have graduated from an accredited law school.
Additional Duties
Domestic Violence Law Clerks will engage in and/or assist with the following tasks:
* Legal research and motion practice
* Criminal case management
* Administrative support
* Court proceeding observations
* Citizen/victim interactions
* Appellate work
* Issuance of subpoenas
* Other duties as assigned
The position is grant funded and will end when the grant ends. The hours are variable but between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited law school seeking a juris doctorate degree. Submit a cover letter, detailed resume, and 3 writing samples of 5–8 pages in length.
