Job Introduction
Youth Justice Service Worker – Dudley YJS (Part time, 18.5 Hours Per Week)
A vacancy has arisen and you are invited to join our team. We work towards providing young people with an alternative approach to engagement, focusing on enabling them to desist from offending and anti‑social behaviour through therapeutic interventions, including art and music. Our service emphasises a Child First approach, championing the positive factors in the lives of young people to maximise the chances of achieving positive outcomes.
We are seeking a Youth Justice Service Worker to support children and young people who attend Court. Ideal candidates will possess specialist working knowledge of Youth Justice Court work, social work and youth justice practice in children’s services, and experience of working with vulnerable children, young people and their families.
Responsibilities
As a YJS Worker you will demonstrate qualities that assist the management team in providing an effective service that meets the individual needs of young people and families, reducing and preventing further offending. You will support the specific functions of the YJS, including groupwork delivery and casework.
You will employ a pro‑active approach to engaging and supporting children and young people subject to out‑of‑court disposals and statutory court orders, both within the community and custodial settings, in accordance with legal requirements, national standards and local policies.
You will be a reflective practitioner, demonstrating an efficient approach to time and task management, producing work in a timely manner and representing the service in various settings, including risk management forums.
