Our Environment Business

Our Source to Sea Strategy consolidates all aspects of Engineering Design under one Business Unit, expanding to provide in-house design support across the UK.
Purpose Of The Role
As a Design Engineer, you will be a key member of the Engineering Design Team, working with Design Managers and Leads to deliver high-quality designs in accordance with GT processes, BMS, and H&S Regulations. This technical role involves direct project engagement, requiring proficiency in water and wastewater industry design. You may also have line management responsibility for graduate/assistant engineers.
You will assist with innovations, fulfill engineering governance, ensure design integration, support procurement activities, and assist site activities. You will also support the development of junior engineers.
Key Accountabilities:
* Ensure technical compliance and quality of design outputs.
* Assist in seeking optimal, cost-effective solutions.
* Follow procedural governance.
* Ensure designs meet client specifications and standards.
* Ensure compliance with H&S and environmental legislation.
* Problem solve throughout the project lifecycle, managing risks and opportunities.
* Assist with pre-contract design activities.
* Work towards professional accreditation (e.g., IChemE).
Person Specification:
* Proficient in liaising with clients and supply chain for process solutions.
* Skilled in process calculations, mass balances, hydraulic calculations.
* Experience in preparing Process Block Diagrams, PFDs, P&IDs.
* Knowledge of process control philosophies and commissioning plans.
* Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
* Experience in water and wastewater industries (+ years).
* Chartered or member of a professional engineering body (preferred).
* Experience in contracting/consulting with commercial awareness.
