Overview

Head of Design (Alternative Revenue) at Norton Motorcycles Ltd. Based at our state-of-the-art facilities in Solihull, West Midlands, you will lead the design and development of Norton’s global merchandise and riding gear portfolio, fusing functionality, performance, and authentic brand expression. You’ll work closely with external suppliers and cross-functional teams to bring compelling collections to market for riders and our broader community of brand fans, deepening the connection between them and the spirit of Norton. The role

In this role, you will lead the design and development of Norton’s global merchandise and riding gear portfolio. Fusing functionality, performance, and authentic brand expression. You’ll work closely with external suppliers and cross-functional teams to bring compelling collections to market. These products are designed for riders as well as for our broader community of brand fans, deepening the connection between them and the spirit of Norton.

Reporting to the Global Director of Alt-Revenue, this is a highly creative and commercially minded role, critical to expanding both customer loyalty and alternative revenue streams.


Responsibilities

* Lead the end-to-end design for the branded merchandise and casual clothing from concept sketches through to production.
* Work closely with trusted suppliers to build and develop riding gear collections to embody Norton’s brand ethos.
* Issue detailed technical packages (tech packs) for all products to ensure seamless communication with suppliers and manufacturers.
* Ensure product designs reflect brand identity, meet performance expectations, and satisfy customer lifestyle needs.
* Partner with external designers and suppliers to bring high-quality, on-brand products to market.
* Conduct trend research, customer feedback reviews, and competitive benchmarking to establish design direction.
* Under the direction of the Global Director of Alt-Revenue, work alongside the Alt-Rev merchandiser to define seasonal and long-term product roadmaps for casual clothing, branded merchandise and riding gear.
* Ensure the delivery of product collections is aligned with key brand moments, launches, and regional market needs.
* Oversee all sampling, fit approval, and support product testing to ensure the highest levels of quality, safety, and durability, especially for riding gear.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

* Partner with marketing, motorcycle retailers, aftersales, and eCommerce teams to align product development with commercial and promotional strategies.
* Collaborate with commercial and design teams to ensure all merchandise and apparel items reflect the company's brand guidelines.


Qualifications

* 8+ years of experience in apparel, merchandise, and development, ideally in the fashion/lifestyle sectors, motorsport, motorcycle and sportswear.
* Strong portfolio demonstrating creative and commercially successful product development.
* Deep knowledge of materials, fit, construction, and performance standards for both apparel and technical gear.
* Experience working directly with global suppliers and overseeing production from concept to delivery.
* Highly collaborative and able to balance creativity, technical requirements, and business goals.
* Strong understanding of customer lifestyle trends, especially within premium automotive or motorcycle communities.
* Detail-oriented and organized, with a proven ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously.
