Senior Consultant
Location: Leeds or London (flexi working). The role will be based at either the Leeds or London office, encouraging a balance of office and home work. Full or part‑time hours may be considered.
Salary: around £47k plus benefits (flexible for the right candidate as the role is niche).

The Role
We are seeking a Senior Consultant with at least 4+ years’ experience in hydraulic modelling and preparing Flood Risk Assessments (FRA).
This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward‑thinking, solution‑focused environmental consultancy with sustainability at its heart.
Key responsibilities:
 * Assist in preparing hydraulic models (both fluvial and pluvial) to support FRAs for developments in property, renewable energy, and aviation sectors.
 * Work on projects from early strategy development through feasibility, outline design, planning submission and discharge of conditions.
 * Engage within various consenting regimes, including Development Consent Orders and Town and Country Planning.
 * Liaise within the Water Team (and externally) to communicate opportunities and constraints, evaluate flood mitigation options in masterplans, and prepare reports.
 * Receive support from the wider Water Team.
Key Skills
 * Good knowledge of the planning system, particularly flood‑related policy and guidance such as the NPPF.
 * Experience using Flood Modeller Pro and TUFLOW software.
 * Knowledge of hydrology and undertaking hydrological assessments for fluvial and rainfall models.
 * Ability to recognise and communicate flood‑risk constraints and opportunities at development sites.
 * Proficiency in developing and troubleshooting hydraulic models, interpreting results, and communicating findings to clients.
 * Experience with GIS and AutoCAD.
 * Knowledge of liaising with the EA, understanding model review processes and requirements.
 * Project management awareness and strong internal and external communication skills.
 * Ability to write clear and concise reports.
 * Some experience producing FRAs.
Knowledge of preparing FRAs would be beneficial, and/or a desire to expand in this area. Training and support will be provided, including drainage and SuDS elements.
