The Deputy Director of Risk and Compliance role: Part of the Finance, Infrastructure and Quality team, the Deputy Director of Risk and Compliance is a new and exciting role, pivotal for driving excellence across the organisation. You will be responsible for shaping and delivering strategic plans with their team and working in partnership with stakeholders and colleagues in line with the values, needs and priorities of the organisation. Key responsibilities of our Deputy Director of Risk and Compliance: Development of strategic and operational plans within the Risk and Compliance teams in support of the organisational strategy and in the furtherance of the objects of the charity, providing strategic leadership and delivering on strategic objectives Lead and manage the organisational risk register for quarterly review by the IMS, taking into account organisational strategy and objectives, key risks, external scrutiny, contractual and regulatory requirements Hold ownership of the Risk Management Policy, reviewing and updating at least annually or as required and monitoring its application and effectiveness Actively promote effective governance, implementing strategies to increase the knowledge of staff of governance and risk processes and regulatory requirements Manage effective systems to support the organisation to monitor, audit and continuously improve, celebrating successes, mitigating risks and taking learnings from any shortcomings Provide leadership and oversight to the information security function. Working closely with the Director of Technology and Transformation, act to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the organisation’s information assets Take a proactive approach to minimising risk and, in conjunction with the operational leads, prepare the organisation for external accreditation and contractual audits, so that appropriate evidence is in place to meet the audit requirements Respond to any external audit findings, co-ordinating the formulation of action plans and implementation of these through the appropriate functions Oversee robust process for the review, development and archiving of policies and controlled documents within the organisation Collect and report on client feedback, supporting operational leads in the development of quality improvement action plans Support audits to drive improvements in the quality of processes and services Working closely with the Deputy Director of Commercial and Sustainability, support the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) development within the organisation The experience and skills you need to become our Deputy Director of Risk and Compliance: Evidence of support to Board of Trustees or Non-Executive Directors with strategic planning A thorough understanding of governance in a charity or care environment is essential, along with experience in advising Boards of Trustees and leadership on governance matters Expertise in risk management and assurance, including the development and oversight of risk management frameworks, supporting processes and procedures, and handling internal audit reviews Ability to commission specialist legal and financial review work for contracts These are some of the benefits we offer: Our working week is 35 hours per week offering flexibility and work life balance Enhanced family friendly provisions Employees will gain an extra day annual leave per year to a maximum of 39 days, including bank holidays (pro-rata).
