We currently have a Catchment Operator position available for a motivated individual in Redruth. This is a full-time, permanent role with a competitive salary of £25,299 per annum. Additionally, there is a salary uplift for standby duty, with potential call-out payments and overtime.
About the role
As a catchment operator within the Area Waste Water Networks team, you will inspect, maintain, and improve the sewerage network. This customer-facing role involves delivering excellent service during planned and emergency situations, ensuring the smooth passage of sewage from source to treatment, and protecting the environment.
What you'll be doing:
1. Completing reactive and planned work across the sewerage network to high standards, including pollution response, blockage clearance, CCTV surveys, and maintenance of pumping stations and CSOs.
2. Adhering to Risk Assessments and Safety Instructions, assessing on-site problems, and providing effective solutions.
3. Delivering first-time resolution where possible, providing detailed feedback for further work, and maintaining high customer service standards.
4. Responding to environmental monitoring data and pollution reports promptly to ensure compliance and environmental protection.
5. Carrying out first-line maintenance on instruments and mechanical equipment.
6. Working independently with jetting vehicles and as part of a team on larger issues.
7. Participating in a flexible working pattern, including standby, callouts, evenings, and weekends.
8. Providing real-time work feedback to support team decision-making and performance tracking.
What we are looking for:
* 5 GCSEs or equivalent in Maths, English, and Science (grades A-C).
* Problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
* Good communication skills, both oral and written.
* Ability to prioritize and handle queries calmly and professionally.
* Teamwork experience and independent initiative.
* Experience with complex processes, modern technology, and ownership of work.
* Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and participate in standby rotation.
