Position: Mechanical Engineer

Hours: 12-hour shifts, 4 on / 4 off – Days & Nights
Contract: Full-time, permanent
The Opportunity
An established recycling and renewable energy facility in Doncaster is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the maintenance and reliability of its plant operations. This role offers the chance to work in a modern, sustainable environment with advanced process equipment, operating on a 4 on / 4 off days and nights shift pattern .
Key Responsibilities Perform day-to-day maintenance, inspection, and repair of plant and machinery.
Undertake planned preventative maintenance on equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, and valves.
Conduct risk assessments and work in line with Health & Safety requirements.
Respond promptly to SCADA alarms and process faults, carrying out corrective actions.
Manage reactive maintenance tasks and ensure accurate completion of logs and check sheets.
Support and supervise contractors when working on-site.
Install, maintain, and upgrade equipment to minimise downtime and support production reliability.
Contribute to continuous improvement projects and site compliance audits.
What We're Looking For Apprentice-trained or NVQ Level 3 qualified Mechanical Engineer, ideally with experience in heavy process, recycling, or energy sectors.
Strong technical knowledge of rotating equipment (pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves).
Safety-conscious with experience carrying out risk assessments.
Capable of fault-finding and problem-solving in a fast-paced industrial setting.
Flexible and reliable, with the ability to work across both days and nights on a 4 on / 4 off rotation.
