Overview

We’re looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you will be working in a fast paced retail environment where no day is the same. You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts, co-ordinating a team to deliver a clean and full store that exceeds customer expectations. You will be constantly looking for ways to improve service in your store through on the job coaching and feedback, and you will have a hands-on approach to delivering practical actions for store improvement. With your guidance, your store will remain a safe place to work and shop.

Note: If this store has a Post Office Local, duties may include day-to-day operations of the post office and require passing a Post Office financial and criminal conviction background check to proceed with the role.


Responsibilities

* Coordinate the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community
* Open/close the store and complete duty cover, ensuring decisions are right for customers, colleagues, and safety
* Be the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for day-to-day operational queries
* Support the Store Manager to coordinate seasonal, community and charity events
* Ensure the store is clean, tidy, and well presented
* Prioritise replenishment of products that matter to customers
* Ensure point of sale and shelf edge labels reflect good presentation
* Take immediate action for any overcharges and prevent reoccurrence
* Proactively manage queues to deliver a great shopping trip
* Coordinate colleagues to deliver daily priorities and manage breaks around trade patterns
* Be knowledgeable about store operations and deliver practical actions to improve
* Follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same
* Deliver clear communication to the team and keep them informed
* Look for ways to simplify operations and share ideas with the Store Manager
* Put the customer first in all actions and resolve customer queries
* Recognise and celebrate colleagues delivering great service
* Identify obstacles to great service and help remove them
* Resolve colleagues’ queries in the Store Manager’s absence or escalate appropriately
* Ensure appropriate staffing and arrange cover for short-term absences/sickness
* Act as a recognised Keyholder and attend alarm call outs as required
* Monitor internal communications and keep colleagues informed
* Coordinate colleagues to meet customer and store needs and feed back issues to the Store Manager
* Balance time across service and replenishment areas
* Support absence management, conduct return-to-work interviews for CSA colleagues and report absence triggers per policy
* Build relationships with Area Manager and People Partner and escalate issues when needed
* Post Office duties (if applicable) and pass required background checks
