Hybrid RoleSenior Electrical EngineerJM SE120825Pay Rate: £298.00 per day PAYE37 hours per weekContract Length: 24 monthsLocation: Bristol or Nuneaton (3 days per week on site at either location) Our client is looking for a Specialist Engineer – Modelling and Simulation to play a key role in assessing evidence obtained through simulated environments for the certification of advanced vehicle systems. This is a technically focused role requiring expertise across a broad range of simulations — from individual assessments showing compliance to specific requirements, to complex multi-step toolchains enabling virtual demonstrations of vehicle capability. In this role, you will work with other engineers and vehicle manufacturers to audit processes and assess evidence of safe performance. You will also be responsible for designing and procuring electrical systems — leading on specification development, integrating inputs from multiple disciplines, and managing conceptual and detailed design phases through to installation and commissioning. This will involve using a structured project management approach, producing technical documentation and drawings, and presenting solutions for peer review. Duties and responsibilities: Lead on the assessment of simulated evidence for type approval to ensure compliance with regulations.
Perform credibility assessments to verify manufacturer processes and ensure models are robust.
Determine compliance based on credibility and vehicle assessment outcomes.
Support the wider agency in evaluating simulated evidence for other type approval subjects.
Collaborate with client managers to ensure effective delivery of type approvals.
Oversee engineers working on type approval activities, ensuring high standards are maintained.
Maintain consistency in type approval processes by following and developing internal guidelines and procedures in line with accreditations.
Work with technical leads to support development of technical interpretations and broader policy guidance.
Stay at the forefront of simulation toolchains and technologies through continuous professional development.
Create and deliver training on modelling and simulation procedures, analysis tools, and data validation techniques.
Mentor and guide colleagues in modelling and simulation to develop skills and knowledge in the team.
Line manage engineers within the Modelling and Simulation team.
Essential criteria Using industry-recognised software to evaluate vehicle dynamic performance.
Validating simulation models against experimental data.
Minimum requirements: Modelling and simulation in the automotive industry.
Auditing experience.
Experience in vehicle control systems.
Qualifications Level 6 or higher qualification in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
Full UK Category B Driving Licence.
