Field Service Multi-Skilled Engineer (Electrical / Horticulture Systems)£50,000+Based in HullUK travel requiredCompany van and fuel card providedThis is a field-based engineering role supporting horticultural and controlled environment systems across the UK.The focus is on maintaining and improving automated growing environments where environmental control systems, electrical infrastructure and mechanical equipment all work together to keep production stable and consistent.Candidates from food manufacturing are welcome, particularly where they have strong electrical and multi-skilled maintenance experience, but the core environment here is horticulture and controlled systems rather than food production.What you'll be doingCarrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across UK sitesResponding to reactive breakdowns and system faultsDiagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical issues across controlled environment systemsSupporting horticultural and automated growing operationsWorking independently on customer sites, often with minimal supervisionCompleting accurate service reports and maintenance documentationManaging your own workload across multiple UK locationsOccasional overnight stays depending on travel requirementsWhat we're looking forStrong multi-skilled engineering background, ideally with an electrical biasExperience in horticulture, agriculture, controlled environment systems, or similar automation-heavy settingsFood manufacturing engineers will be considered where strong electrical and maintenance experience is presentConfident fault-finding across electrical and mechanical systemsExperience with PPM and reactive maintenance in live operational environmentsComfortable working across varied environments, including plant rooms and production facilitiesWillingness to travel extensively across the UK and stay away when requiredSelf-sufficient, organised and capable of working independentlyStrong communication skills when working with site teams and operatorsFull UK driving licenceThe reality of the roleThis is not a single-site maintenance job.You'll be moving between different controlled environments where reliability is critical and systems are often operating continuously. The work is varied, technically interesting and requires engineers who are comfortable thinking on their feet without constant supervision.If you want routine, fixed-site work, this won't suit you.
