This job attracts a Recruitment & Retention payment of £25,000 in addition to £8000 relocation allowance plus other benefits! The Recruitment & Retention payment is pro rata for part time employees.

Join a passionate, multidisciplinary team transforming adult eating disorder care across Surrey. We're offering an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to play a pivotal role in shaping a highly specialised outpatient service. You'll be part of a well-established, expanding team delivering intensive treatment to adults with Eating Disorders, supported by a collaborative, experienced clinical team.

Main duties of the job

As Consultant Psychiatrist for the Adult Eating Disorders Service, you will lead on assessment, diagnosis & treatment for adults with complex eating disorders. Working within a skilled MDT, you will take part in referrals, triage, CPA reviews, and contribute to strategic service development.

You will also provide clinical supervision, take part in audit & quality improvement, and be supported to pursue academic, teaching or research interests.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Full medical registration with a license to practice.
* Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act(or within 6 to 12 months of the time of interview/assessment) or equivalent.
* MB BS or equivalent recognised medical qualification.
* A recognised basic Medical Degree and MRCPsych or equivalent
* MRCPsych or equivalent.
* Management qualification or evidence of an interest in developing leadership skills.
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
* In good standing with GMC concerning warnings and conditions on practice
* Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within three months of appointment


Clincical Skills, Knowledge & Experience

* Knowledge of legislation, Department of Health Guidance and literature and its implications for clinical practice
* Knowledge of NHS strategic vision in the Next Stage Review (High-Quality Care for All)
* Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
* Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
* Ability to meet duties under MHA and MCA
* Evidence of effective multidisciplinary team involvement and experience
* Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
* Specific training qualification/certificate or attendance on a recognised teaching course.


Academic Skills & Lifelong Learning

* Ability to take a clinical leadership role in a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality care.
* Ability to appraise own performance as a Specialty Doctor and reflect on development needs
* A high-level ability to effectively communicate complex and clinically sensitive information to patients, their families, carers, and a wide range of lay and professional people within and outside the NHS at both written and oral levels.
* Ability to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post
* Reflected on the purpose of CPD undertaken
