Insights, Design and Development Analyst – Finance & Corporate Services, Operations Department: Portfolio Management Unit (PMU)
Overview
The role is part of the Organisational Performance and Insights (OP&I) team within the Finance Division of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). It focuses on developing, implementing and maintaining organisational performance reporting, measurement and evaluation.
Responsibilities
* Design, develop and maintain automated dashboards and Management Information (MI) reporting solutions in line with data architecture best practices.
* Produce high‑quality MI and engaging data visualisations to support executive decision‑making and performance tracking.
* Partner with stakeholders across the organisation to translate data into actionable insights and meaningful business context.
* Define, monitor and refine key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure progress against strategic objectives.
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives by gathering feedback and evolving MI products and reporting capabilities to meet organisational needs.
* Provide guidance and training on MI best practices, promoting data literacy and effective use of insights.
* Identify opportunities to enhance and integrate MI processes, addressing data gaps and improving reporting efficiency.
* Support the management, quality assurance and governance of MI data within the Data Lake, working closely with technical teams and business areas to improve data integrity and system capability.
Qualifications
* Experience working with stakeholders to produce engaging, actionable MI using data visualisation software such as Tableau (Power BI or Qlikview also considered).
* Solid analytical skills with the ability to present issues logically and simply.
* Demonstrated experience working collaboratively as part of a team, valuing diverse perspectives and being self‑directed when required.
* Experience combining data from multiple sources and transforming it for analytical purposes using SQL or a data transformation tool (e.g., Alteryx, Tableau Prep).
* Basic ability to write SQL queries.
* Proficiency in translating business requirements into dashboards.
* Ability to work well under tight deadlines, handle a heavy and varied workload and prioritise effectively.
* Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
* Continuous improvement mindset, seeking new and more effective ways to operate and feeding feedback to management.

Salary
* National (Edinburgh and Leeds): £39,100 – £53,700, based on skills and experience.
* London: £41,600 – £57,000, based on skills and experience.
