We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Sustainability Tutor to join our delivery team, to deliver our new ‘Step into Sustainability’ study programme. This programme is a personalised study pathway, combining life skills with practical sustainability learning, with emphasis on independence, employability and progression.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of sustainability and recent experience working with young people with a range of educational needs. You should be able to evidence a strong link to or recent experience of sustainability/environmental and/or land-based practices .and real-world application.
Tasks
The role involves delivering a tailored and inclusive sustainability curriculum that supports practical, learner-centred and contextualised learning, ensuring that learners have the tools and confidence progression.
Requirements
Key qualification, skills and experience
Maths and English at secondary education level or demonstrate equivalent qualifications.
A teaching or training qualification at level 3 or above
Commitment to continuous professional development
Working knowledge of Microsoft word/excel/outlook/PowerPoint/databases and SharePoint
Experience delivering learner-centred, practical or project-based learning
Ability to facilitate experiential and real-world learning
Experience of delivering or supporting sustainability/environmental learning
Practical experience (e.g. outdoor learning, conservation, sustainable living, community projects)
Understanding of sustainability pathways and opportunities for learners
Experience working with learners with SEND, including SEMH
Experience using adaptive teaching strategies to meet diverse needs
Ability to support learners with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs
Understanding of supporting learners towards progression (employment, FE, independent living)
Experience embedding employability and life skills into teaching
Passion for sustainability and ability to inspire learners
Commitment to promoting environmental awareness and community engagement
Engaging learners with diverse and complex needs
Behaviour support and creating positive learning environments
Delivering practical, contextualised learning
Ability to prioritise and self-manage
