Romsey Cancer Support Centre
Romsey Cancer Support Centre is a registered charity that provides practical support to anyone whose life is affected by cancer. This can be the person living with cancer, or a family member, close friend, carer or partner.From our Centre in Romsey we offer in person counselling, complementary therapies, befriending and a range of information services.
This role is based in Jane Scarth House.
OBJECTIVES OF THE ROLE
Provide assistance with new Fundraising Campaigns, Events and promote the charity with local organisations. Research, write and manage new grant applications with support of Centre Manager. Work closely with Centre Manager to update and present to network of healthcare professionals. Attend events throughout the year. Provide office support and cover as required by Centre Manager.
Main Duties
Helping with new fundraising campaigns/Promotion of charity
Help identify and organise new fundraising campaigns including promoting within the charity and externally with support of centre manager.
Find, submit and monitor new grant applications with support from centre manager.
Attend local events and give presentations about the work of the charity.
Review newsletters and local publications for relevant information that may help the manager/trustees
Prepare monthly summary report
Regular contact and updates with many community contacts and healthcare professionals with centre manager
Attend regular forums, networking events and report back to centre manger
Regular meetings with centre manger to update progress and discuss new ideas
Attend fundraising meetings and events throughout the year which could include evenings and weekends
Understand and be able to explain all our services to external organisations and clients.
Administrative Support in Centre
Provide administrative support on projects as directed by Centre Manager or Operations Manager
Point of reference in the centre when Centre Manager is not there.
Open/Close the centre and help with enquiries when Centre Manager is not there.
Supporting those affected by cancer in an empathic and appropriate manner
Ensure all clients/visitors are met and greeted in person
Ensure courteous and welcoming reception is provided for all visitors to the centre
Deal sensitively with telephone enquiries
Maintain confidentiality at all times

· Experience working within charity sector or within smaller organisations
· Event management/organisation skills
· Preferred experience of writing and submitting and stewarding grant applications
· Experience or interest in working within an oncology setting
· Strong administrative skills
· Experience working with volunteers
· Good level of written communication skills
· IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) and to include use of social media channels
· Awareness/ experience of client confidentiality

Some out of hours work are likely to be required. It is expected that the successful candidate would be willing and available to be flexible in their hours to cover weekends and evening activities on occasion.
