Overview
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated Registered Nurse (Adult) with a range of post qualification experience and a keen interest in working in the field of Occupational Health. The successful candidate will support the delivery of Occupational Health services within the department, hospital and community settings. The role will be based mainly at Royal Preston Hospital and also Edge Hill University. This vacancy is open to all internal and external candidates. NHS Employees should ideally secure their manager’s agreement for a secondment arrangement prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made. The vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis for 13 months to cover maternity leave and will end February 2027 or when the substantive post holder returns. Whilst advertised on a fixed term/secondment basis there is potential the post may become permanent in the future.
We are Well Being Partners, a SEQOHS accredited Occupational Health and Wellbeing partnership from Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS FT and Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS FT. We currently provide services to NHS clients, Universities, Colleges and schools as well as other private sector businesses.
Responsibilities
* Plan and organise, under the guidance of the Nurse Manager, own nurse-led clinics on hospital/clinic sites for health surveillance, vaccination, health discussions and advice for NHS employees and external organisations.
* Undertake a range of health assessments, health promotion and health screening; provide advice to managers and employees on work health issues.
* Conduct pre-employment health assessments and protect staff and patients against infectious disease and transmissible infections; assess immunisation status of individuals; provide information about communicable diseases; deliver immunisations; request appropriate blood testing; manage blood exposure incidents.
* Assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate care plans without supervision.
* Demonstrate a broad range of clinical experience and excellent communication skills; confident to undertake both face-to-face and telephone consultations.
* Demonstrate excellent IT skills as clinical records are computer-based.
* Maintain professional standards in line with WWL Trust values and policies.
