Responsibilities / Tasks
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer to join our team, with a focus on Slicing & Packaging Machinery. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and optimization of Slicing & Packaging Machinery. You will support customers across the UK, Ireland, and internationally, ensuring reliable operation and maximum performance of their production lines. (While the position has a national remit, a North England base would be advantageous).
1. Installation & Commissioning: Lead the installation and start-up of Slicing & Packaging Machinery, ensuring all systems meet technical and operational requirements.
2. Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs on Slicing & Packaging Machinery and associated equipment.
3. Technical Support & Training: Provide hands-on support and technical guidance to customers. Train operators and maintenance staff on equipment use and best practices.
4. System Optimization & Upgrades: Recommend and implement process improvements, equipment upgrades, and control system optimizations to increase line efficiency and reliability.
5. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed service records including diagnostics, repairs, part replacements, and operational feedback. Prepare clear service reports for customers and internal teams.
6. Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, automation, and sales teams to ensure alignment and customer satisfaction.
7. Emergency Support: Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency support when needed to minimize customer downtime.
Your Profile / Qualifications
8. NVQ/HNC/HND in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering or related discipline
9. 3 - 5 years field experience with complex process equipment in food manufacturing is essential
10. Specific experience with Slicing & Packaging Machinery would be advantageous
11. Automation and control system knowledge is advantageous (PLC
12. Proficiency in reading mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic drawings
13. Strong electrical background is preferred
14. Willingness to travel extensively across the UK, Ireland, and internationally
15. Strong organizational skills, structured working style, and problem-solving mindset
16. Excellent interpersonal and customer relationship skills
17. Fluent in English; other languages (e.g., Italian, French, German) are a plus
