Export Control Officer
Based in Stevenage
Salary up to £45,000 + Bonus + Overtime + 14% Pension

If you enjoy interpreting complex regulations, advising stakeholders and ensuring organisations operate responsibly across international borders, this role offers the chance to do exactly that within a highly regulated technology environment.
You’ll support the business in navigating UK Export Control regulations alongside ITAR and EAR, ensuring the compliant transfer of controlled technology, software and information across international programmes.
This is a role where your judgement matters. You’ll balance commercial objectives with regulatory responsibility, helping teams move quickly while staying fully compliant.
The role
You’ll act as a key point of contact for export compliance across multiple programmes and business functions.
Typical responsibilities include:
* Advising stakeholders on UK Export Control regulations and licensing requirements
* Supporting export classification of goods, technology and software
* Managing compliance relating to US-origin content under ITAR and EAR
* Supporting export licence applications and ongoing compliance activities
* Maintaining accurate, auditable compliance documentation
* Helping teams understand regulatory obligations in a practical way
What we’re looking for
You may currently work in:
* Export Control
* Trade Compliance
* International Trade Regulation
* Regulatory Compliance within a technical industry
Experience we’re interested in includes:
* Knowledge of UK Export Control regulations and licensing frameworks
* Familiarity with ITAR and EAR regulations
* Experience supporting compliance processes in a regulated environment
* Ability to interpret technical or legal documentation accurately
* Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Experience in defence, aerospace or advanced technology would be beneficial but is not essential.
British citizenship is required due to security clearance considerations.
Package
Circa £45,000 salary
Bonus up to £2,500
