Job Description:

Parent Pathways is a voluntary government program supporting parents and carers with children under six to participate in pre-employment services. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Parent/Carer Mentor to join our Preston team on a full-time basis. Some travel to our Heidelberg office may be required.
The ideal candidate will have lived experience in parenting and a passion for supporting other parents and families. As a mentor, you will work one-on-one with parents, facilitate workshops, and create a welcoming environment for learning and growth through our support programs.
Responsibilities include:
1. Provide individual mentorship to parents, offering support and guidance on parenting challenges.
2. Assist parents/carers to overcome barriers and empower them with skills to achieve employment and educational goals.
3. Facilitate workshops and group sessions on relevant topics.
4. Develop engaging educational materials and resources.
5. Foster a safe environment for parents to share experiences and learn.
6. Collaborate with community organizations to enhance program offerings.
7. Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, providing feedback for improvement.
The Person:
1. Personal lived experience in parenting or family support, with relevant professional experience (employment service experience highly regarded).
2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
3. Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.
4. Ability to work independently and in a team.
5. Knowledge of community resources is a plus.
6. Able to meet targets while maintaining high standards of customer service.
7. Respect for diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
8. Accurate documentation and case management skills.
9. Proficient in technology.
10. Completed or working towards a Certificate III or higher in related fields, or tertiary qualifications in education, training, social services, counselling, or community services.
11. Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one.
12. Additional language skills are highly desirable.
