An exciting opportunity has arisen within our CAMHS Liaison Team in Derby City & South Derbyshire CAMHS (Children and Young Peoples Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service).
You will work within the CAMHS Urgent Care Pathway completing direct work with children and young people who have mental health problems, undertaking mental health assessments and interventions. The role offers opportunities to develop knowledge in assessing risk and drawing up robust safety plans. The team supports consultation and support to colleagues across the service line.

Main duties of the job
The Liaison Team offers urgent assessments within the Royal Derby Hospital and provides 7/14 day follow‑ups to work with young people and families in developing next steps in their care. Safe discharge care plans and safety assessments are the priority.
The post holder will be part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) for children and young people presenting with severe mental illness, acute and complex presentations. This includes those with mental health concerns who have traditionally found it difficult to access service, such as looked‑after children, young offenders, and young people with alcohol and substance issues.
The team is one‑third of South Derbyshire’s Urgent Care Pathway, which also comprises a Crisis & Home Treatment Service and a Day Service. All three teams are based at Temple House. The team meets six times a week to reflect, learn and provide feedback, including external service introductions.
The team operates from 8am to 11pm, seven days a week. Staff work well as part of a team and also as autonomous professionals. Good assessment, formulation and care‑planning skills are key in this role.
In accordance with national and local priorities and clinical guidelines, the post holder will be responsive to the needs and views of local children, young people and their families.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We are looking for a suitably experienced qualified practitioner to improve children and young people’s mental health through highly specialist clinical assessment and care planning. The role involves working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, providing evidence-based interventions and using Routine Outcome Measures (ROMs) to inform practice.
The ideal candidate has post‑registration experience and is motivated and enthusiastic to join our multi‑disciplinary team.
Applicants can work full-time or part-time. Flexible working hours and shift patterns (8am‑5pm and 2pm‑11pm, with weekend cover) are offered.
