Overview
Goldhawk Associates is supporting a privately owned and fast-growing business in Maidstone that is seeking to appoint a commercially astute Financial Controller. This is a key leadership position that will support both strategic and day-to-day financial operations, reporting directly to the senior leadership team.
Following consistent year-on-year growth—having doubled turnover since 2018—the business is entering an exciting phase of development and is looking for someone who can add value across financial planning, reporting, and process improvement.
The Role
As Financial Controller, you’ll take ownership of the finance function while working closely with the wider management team to influence decision-making and drive performance. This is a hands-on role encompassing monthly accounts, budgeting, payroll, and support for ad-hoc HR activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver timely and accurate monthly management accounts, P&L, balance sheet, and financial reports
2. Lead budgeting and forecasting cycles and provide commercial insights on performance and margins
3. Analyse cost trends and support pricing decisions and expansion strategies
4. Manage payroll processes and assist with employee queries and compliance
5. Support basic HR administration such as onboarding and personnel records
6. Oversee and develop a small finance team (Credit Control and AP)
7. Maintain and improve internal controls and financial processes
8. Act as the main point of contact for external accountants and auditors
We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a qualified finance professional who brings both strategic thinking and a hands-on, detail-oriented approach.
Essential Requirements:
9. ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified
10. Strong background in management reporting, forecasting, and team management
11. Payroll oversight and financial operations experience
12. Excellent communication and leadership skills
13. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment
