About The Role
The role involves providing commercial and contractual expertise to support colleagues across the business. Responsibilities include managing projects in line with contractual obligations, ensuring adherence to internal controls and regulations, and maintaining high levels of commercial assurance across various contracts, including bespoke frameworks, NEC, JCT, and others.
Key duties include:
* Driving business performance through continuous improvement in managing commercial contracts, variations, and project delivery in line with business plans.
* Supporting project managers in forecasting and controlling project spend using commercial acumen to deliver efficiencies.
* Assisting in budget estimation for PAG approval, using actual cost data and measurement techniques.
* Managing project costs, risks, and mitigation strategies through site visits and risk registers.
* Leading contract resolution issues focusing on affordability.
* Collaborating with procurement to select appropriate contractual routes and evaluate tenders.
* Implementing key measures and practices to ensure compliance with internal controls.
* Conducting procurement activities for non-framework projects.
* Building relationships with suppliers and stakeholders to understand mutual drivers.
Who We Are Looking For
* A degree in Quantity Surveying.
* Experience in contract negotiations and claims management is desirable.
* Chartered or working towards chartered status (RICS, CIOB, CICES).
* Knowledge of contract management, valuation, and claims resolution.
* Understanding of cost value reporting, cost control, and forecasting.
* Proficiency in managing delivery partners and interpreting contract terms.
* Experience with standard form contracts such as NEC and JCT.
* Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
* Good knowledge of MS Excel and ability to learn specialist software.
* Experience managing high-value, multi-disciplinary projects, and high-volume low-value works is advantageous.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Full UK driving license.
