About the Role
Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a terrific opportunity for a Procurement Manager to join our £1.2 billion Lower Thames Crossing project, consisting of 43 bridges, including viaducts, 17 km of complex Highways construction, complex utility diversions, and a scheme‑wide, industry‑leading approach to carbon reduction. Balfour Beatty Highways maintain, manage and operate major highway networks across the UK and support local authorities, creating communities where people want to live, work and play. The Procurement Manager will work with the LTC Project team to deliver the LTC Procurement Strategy and procurement activity in line with the main contract requirements, business objectives, strategy and processes.
Responsibilities
* Ensure project requirements are met, and best value contracts are negotiated to meet and exceed targets.
* Produce project specific Procurement Strategies for agreement with internal and external stakeholders.
* Develop and implement individual package procurement plans to ensure project specific constraints are considered to maintain security of supply and optimise added value.
* Draw on technical knowledge and lead the production of package ITT’s, drawing the necessary information from other disciplines within the team (operations, planning, design, quality).
* In line with the Project Procurement Strategy lead multi‑disciplinary sourcing teams through ITT process recommending the best supplier utilising the Balfour Beatty ITT procurement software (Jaggaer).
* In conjunction with the Commercial team facilitate the negotiation of package specific terms and conditions and agree with the wider business where applicable.
* Negotiate agreements for the Project that support on‑time delivery and meet Safety & Sustainability requirements.
* Develop key relationships with business stakeholders and strategic supply partners to improve business.
* Identify areas for improvement to continually drive performance and business results.
* Conduct business review meetings with key stakeholders to assess risk, review future strategies, and identify potential cost down and improvement opportunities.
* Provide periodic reporting for management on purchasing, controls and processes.
* Teach and educate managers and associates about procurement process control.
Qualifications
* Relevant business degree or equivalent experience (e.g. MCIPS) (desired) experience within a Procurement Management role.
* Appropriate style of people management that will deliver objectives while taking into account the skills, personalities and needs of employees.
* Pragmatic yet disciplined approach to process compliance.
* Highly results orientated (proven track record of exceeding targets).
* Stakeholder management skills.
* Problem solving skills, ability to use own initiative to identify areas of improvement & propose solutions.
* Demonstrates excellent written and verbal skills.
* Knowledge of procurement ERP and e‑tendering systems (e.g. Oracle, Jaggaer or similar).
* Experience of Subcontract Procurement.
* Supply Chain Management Experience.
* Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
* Proven track record in negotiation.
