*Job Overview*We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented MOT Tester to join our automotive service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting safety inspections and testing vehicles to ensure compliance with legal standards. The MOT Tester will play a vital part in maintaining high safety standards and delivering exceptional service to our customers.*Duties** Conduct comprehensive MOT tests on a variety of vehicles in accordance with legal requirements and company procedures.* Perform pre-test inspections to identify potential issues and ensure vehicles meet safety standards.* Use hand tools and power tools to carry out necessary repairs or adjustments identified during testing.* Document test results accurately and provide clear explanations of findings to customers.* Assist with vehicle repairs, including heavy lifting tasks, when necessary, ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently.* Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the testing bay and equipment.* Keep up-to-date with current MOT regulations and industry best practices through ongoing training.*Requirements** Proven mechanical knowledge with experience working on a range of vehicle systems.* Competence in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment effectively.* Ability to perform heavy lifting safely, particularly when handling vehicle parts or equipment.* Valid MOT tester certification recognised by the DVSA (Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency).* Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills.* Good communication skills to explain technical information clearly to customers.* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.* A proactive attitude towards health and safety standards within the workshop setting.
