Senior to Principal Engineering Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer Location: Newport, Shropshire (with UK-wide travel) Company: Nova Geo Consulting Nova Geo Consulting is looking for a skilled professional to join our dynamic and growing ground engineering team. This senior-level position has been created in response to ongoing growth and increasing demand for our services across the quarrying, mining, and civil infrastructure sectors. The role is based at our Newport (Shropshire) office, with regular UK-wide travel to client sites. While we encourage office-based collaboration, we remain open to remote or hybrid working for the right candidate. About Us Nova Geo Consulting is a recently formed independent geoscience consultancy delivering high-quality geological and geotechnical services to the quarrying, mining and civil engineering industries. We are known for our technical expertise, practical approach, and dedication to finding robust solutions through strong client partnerships. Key Responsibilities Lead or support the delivery of geotechnical services for quarrying and mineral extraction projects across the UK. Production of extraction plans / quarry designs. Conduct slope stability assessments for both soil and rock faces. Scope, plan, and oversee geotechnical investigations to inform design and safe operations. Produce clear, concise technical reports and risk assessments. Collaborate with clients to understand technical needs, develop proposals, and prepare fee estimates. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to early-career engineers and support staff. What We’re Looking For Chartered status (or working towards it) with a relevant professional body such as CGeol or CEng. Strong academic background in Geology, Engineering Geology, Earth Sciences or Civil Engineering, with postgraduate training in Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent. A track record of delivering geotechnical or engineering geology services, ideally (but not essential) with exposure to the quarrying, mining, or heavy civil engineering sectors. Understanding of UK legislation and regulations. Confident managing ground investigations and interpreting data for practical, design-led applications. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across the UK. Must have the right to work in the UK.
