The Job Role
They are recruiting Engineering Geologists and Geo-environmental Engineers to join their team in Exeter. This role offers the chance to work with a range of public and private clients on major projects, providing broad consultancy experience early in your career. The position involves site-based supervision of geotechnical investigations and some office-based analysis and reporting.
The responsibilities include:
1. Undertaking desk study research and reporting prior to project commencement.
2. Preparing and supervising ground investigations, including soil/rock logging to current standards.
3. Liaising with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
4. Preparing samples and scheduling laboratory testing.
5. Producing site logs/data and drafting factual reports with increasing interpretive input, covering:
* Geotechnical aspects: foundations, earthworks, ground improvement, retaining structures, slope stability, highway and drainage design.
* Geo-environmental aspects: contaminated land risk assessments, hydrogeological risk assessments, gas risk management, and waste management.
Other duties include adhering to health, safety, welfare, quality, and environmental policies. The role may vary with company needs, and the post holder is expected to follow all policies and undertake additional duties as required.
The essential qualifications and attributes are:
* BSc/BEng in Geology, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or related field; a Master’s or PhD is advantageous.
* At least one year of relevant experience.
* Commitment to CPD and working towards Chartership (CGeol, CEng, CSci).
* Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
* Ability to plan and organize work efficiently.
* High standards of customer service.
* Effective communication skills to build strong relationships and exceed client expectations.
