Within fisheries we operate a fisheries duty officer role that delivers an advice service and practical response.

You will be a Fisheries Technical Officer in Yorkshire, providing advice, guidance and fisheries support across the area. Your work will include fisheries management, regulation, partnership working and incident management. You will provide technical input into a range of internal and external projects, programmes, consents and permits.

The ability to work collaboratively, sharing and supporting with different workloads is critical. There is an expectation to be able to travel across Yorkshire for this role, attending site visits, carrying out practical field work and attending regular face to face meetings in all our Yorkshire offices.


The Team

You’ll be joining the Yorkshire Fisheries Technical and Geomorphology Team, a friendly and professional group of individuals who work collaboratively to deliver positive environmental outcomes across Yorkshire. We are a welcoming and close‑knit team that have regular face to face meet ups and site visits to share knowledge and support each other.

The team is part of the wider Fisheries, Geomorphology and Biodiversity Department (FBG).


Experience / Skills Required

* Qualified to degree level (or equivalent experience) in a relevant technical discipline.
* A good technical knowledge that will support the team in providing advice on how to maintain, improved and develop fisheries.
* Strong personal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and bring the team together.
* Ability to build and sustain relationships with colleagues in the wider Environment Agency and external stakeholders.
* Ability to analyse and interpret technical data.
* Willingness to learn about fisheries incidents and still water management.
* A full UK driving licence is essential.

This is a hybrid role working across Yorkshire, you will have a base office location at one of our Yorkshire offices.

Interviews are expected to be scheduled for 23rd and 24th March in either Leeds or Beverley.
