By organising and managing fundraising and events, you will help us not only to reach more local parents but also to give Holding Space the chance to spread the word to potential funders and corporate sponsors who can help keep our services going. Fundraising has become a critical backbone of our operations. Without fundraising, we will not survive long term. Your support will help us to continue helping families across East Sussex who are in crisis. What are we looking for? We are looking for someone who has experience in planning and managing events for income generation. Our events range from small to mid- level, from just-for-fun events to educational-specific workshops for parents and carers. We also have our fundraising dinner, which will require excellent organisational and communication skills to plan the event with relevant stakeholders. We need someone who can spot opportunities, and generate income for the charity during our toughest period yet. Bursaries and funding applications are now almost non-existent for small charities like us, so we are becoming totally reliant on our local community and fundraising to continue running our services. Holding Space is a small charity that specialises in parent peer support, which means putting the parent and carer's mental health at the forefront of everything. We work directly with parents and carers whose child is facing mental health challenges themselves. Our work is vital in helping parents feel heard, less isolated, and better equipped in supporting their child through tough times. We're looking for an individual who can plan a schedule of engaging events with the aim of raising funds for the charity. In the past, we have run events just for fun, like book clubs, craft workshops for the whole family, and dinners with potential corporate sponsors. But we also run tailored, support-specific workshops that are designed to supplement the 1-2-1 and group support our Parent Peer Support workers provide. These workshops range in topics, e.g. autism/ADHD, parenting teens, anxiety, and more. Our priority is to organise our annual Fundraising Dinner for 2026. Unfortunately we were unable to run this event this year as we did not have the capacity in our volunteer team to organise it. Our Fundraising Dinner involves inviting businesses across Eastbourne and surrounding areas to join us to celebrate the achievements of Holding Space and explore further opportunities within the community. This is a huge opportunity for us to connect with potential sponsors and donors to our cause. As a Fundraising and Events Coordinator we would ask you to assist in Planning a long-term schedule of events Choosing dates/times/venues (if not to be held on site) Liaising with the marketing volunteer for advertising events Look for fundraising opportunities within the community Manage fundraising events where needed Attend fundraising events where possible/where needed for support Budget planning to ensure income from events always covers costs, with the aim to generate a revenue We appreciate there will be a lot to do, but we will always work with you flexibly. Any time and support you can give - it will all help. Although we're asking for someone who can cover a broad spectrum of tasks, please note it would be temporary while we seek additional volunteers to help with the workload.
