Job Overview
A vacancy for a Higher Medical Laboratory Assistant has arisen in a busy Microbiology Laboratory based at the Royal Gwent Hospital, with services also at The Grange University Hospital, Cwmbran, and Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny. The department processes a wide variety of clinical samples using manual and automated methods.
The hours are 37.5 per week, including evenings, night shifts, weekends, and bank holidays on a rotational basis.
Main Duties
* Register request forms onto LIMS system
* Prepare samples for processing, using automation
* Manage stock control, handle deliveries, replenish stock, and clean equipment
* Order consumables electronically
The successful applicant should be organized, methodical, possess good computer skills, attention to detail, and be able to work within a team. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; applications from English and Welsh speakers are equally welcome.
