Millfield Prep School is seeking a kind, reliable and caring individual to join our boarding team as an Evening Helper. This rewarding role plays an important part in supporting our pupils at the end of their day, helping to create a calm, safe and welcoming house environment where children feel well looked after.
The position is term-time only and involves working on Fridays from 5.30pm to 9.30pm. It is ideally suited to someone who enjoys working with children, takes pride in practical tasks and values being part of a supportive and friendly school community.
As an Evening Helper, you will work closely with Houseparents and other house staff to support the smooth running of the boarding house. Your role will be both practical and pastoral in nature, with a strong focus on the wellbeing and comfort of the children. You will assist with evening and bedtime routines, help pupils settle at the end of the day and check on any children who may be unwell or in need of extra reassurance.
You will also support the organisation and care of pupils' belongings by assisting with laundry, changing beds, repacking kitbags and ensuring clothing and equipment are tidy and ready for use. Preparing and clearing away snacks, maintaining tidy communal areas and helping to create a relaxed, orderly atmosphere in the house are also key aspects of the role.
