About the business unit
The Energy unit provides services across sectors like hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation, and transmission & distribution. We offer integrated engineering and project management services from concept to decommissioning, supporting the global energy transition.
About the role
Our Energy Networks team seeks a Principal Project Manager to lead energy infrastructure design and advisory projects, supporting decarbonization efforts in the UK and Europe. This role involves project delivery, process improvement, and career development within a collaborative environment.
Key responsibilities
1. Deliver project management for transmission & distribution projects, including feasibility, FEED, and detailed design.
2. Manage project scope, schedule, quality, and costs.
3. Build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
4. Establish effective communication across multidisciplinary teams.
5. Lead problem-solving and decision-making.
6. Manage contractual and commercial aspects.
7. Assess and mitigate project risks.
8. Handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Candidate specifications
* Degree or experience in engineering or project management within the energy sector.
* Proven success in transmission or distribution project delivery.
* Experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Knowledge of contract administration, ideally NEC.
* Skills in change, risk, schedule, and cost management.
* Decision-making capabilities and responsibility acceptance.
* Commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing.
* Experience in electrical infrastructure projects, e.g., Owner's Engineer or Lender's Engineer.
* Knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations.
* Understanding of commercial aspects and contract terms.
* Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
* Collaborative skills for working with diverse teams.
Desirable skills
* Experience in transmission and distribution sectors.
* Experience across project lifecycle stages.
* Relevant project management qualifications (e.g., PMQ, Prince2).
