Job description – Job responsibilities
The Trust is developing its acute medical services and planning changes to the urgent care model. Our current AAU has 19 beds and 8 recliner chairs; we have a 30-bed short stay ward and an ambulatory care unit. Work is underway to establish Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) services that include medical and surgical assessment, ambulatory care and frailty services. These posts offer a unique opportunity to help plan and develop an integrated SDEC service from an early stage. The department will work closely with primary care and community services to improve patient care. We seek newly qualified or established consultants who are passionate about Acute Medicine and seeking a new challenge. You must be a capable senior decision-maker supporting rapid patient assessment, post-take ward rounds, streaming to appropriate pathways, and initiation of treatment. There may be opportunities for specialty sessions. Applicants may request less than full-time work or job sharing. Our consultants provide strong clinical leadership and are available for advice on any patient within the acute medicine department. Consultants are expected to be based within the clinical area when rostered for direct clinical care (Programmed Activities).
