As the energy sector expands, so does their business. They are now looking to recruit a Technical Estimator to join their growing, forward-thinking team, based in Elmstead Market.
Technical Estimator
£35-50k (Negotiable DOE) | Mon-Fri | 8am-4:30pm | Elmstead Market
Key Responsibilities:
1. Produce accurate estimates of material and labour costs for the BMS and/or lighting element of the project
2. Prepare and send out accurate proposals and tender documentation for Building Management systems
3. Vet received quotes for BMS material and labour costs and utilize negotiation skills to achieve 'best value'
4. Understand estimating processes and use empirical data to work in an organized, accurate and methodical manner

The Technical Estimator will use their technical knowledge to provide advice and support on a range of products, for which a certain level of expertise is needed. Based out of their Elmstead Market office with frequent site visits, you will develop from a specification and drawings the BMS Points schedule, material and product selection and engineering requirements.
Duties (include but are not limited to):
1. Produce accurate estimates of material and labour costs for the BMS and/or lighting element of the project

3. Vet received quotes for BMS material and labour costs and utilize negotiation skills to achieve 'best value'
4. Understand estimating processes and use empirical data to work in an organized, accurate and methodical manner
Have a good understanding of technical M&E drawings and be able to prepare take-offs from schematics. Evaluate technical Building Services requirements, estimating costs, determining prices and margins of all equipment.
Create estimates/quotations to potential customers - ensuring both the customer and business needs are met and the estimate is in line with requirements. Evaluate bid opportunities and liaise with potential M&E clients, working within project deadlines to produce accurate electrical estimates. Liaising with the PM, with project requirements and ongoing changes, to meet project demands.
Complete surveys on both BMS and Lighting opportunities. Convert information to detailed design and operational times. Produce designs together with ROI calculations and cost estimating sheets. Convert operational procedures into Simpro and develop cost centers to allocate operational times and expenses.
Provide support and guidance to project electricians and engineers as and when needed. Develop commissioning sheets, reports and methodologies to achieve project completion. Maintaining strict compliance to quality work, and safety rules. Assist the Project Engineer in designing the project once secured.
Person Specification:
* Ideally, you will come from a sales background and have the ability to understand the needs of the client against the necessity for works to be carried out
* Be able to identify the most appropriate solution and have the confidence to manage client expectations
* You will ideally have either BMS or HVAC knowledge or experience, or have a good understanding of buildings and technology within construction
* Have the intuition to call on the expertise of subject matter experts when required
The post holder must maintain the confidentiality of information about clients and other services in accordance with Company Policy. The post will be subject to regular annual staff development review. The post holder will be expected to keep themselves up to date on all matters relating to Company procedures and policy.
The post holder must familiarize themselves with matters relating to health and safety management as they affect them personally and/or the Company, reporting any potential risks to life or property immediately in accordance with the Company Health and Safety policy and procedures. They must use all equipment provided to undertake their role safely.
The post holder will refrain from smoking in any area of the Company premises not designated a smoking area.
