<div><p>Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust offers a full‑time Specialist Doctor (SAS) in Cardiology position, available immediately.</p><h3>Closing date</h3><p><b>25 June 2026</b></p><h3>Role Overview</h3><p>An exciting opportunity to join the dynamic and developing cardiology department at Kingston Hospital. The post holder will lead ward rounds of cardiology and general medical patients, cardiology in‑reach, cardiology clinics and undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. There will be opportunities for cath lab sessions and/or training in echocardiography (including stress echo and TOE), CTCA and MPS depending on individual interests. The department has an on‑site library and a Postgraduate Medical Centre with an active teaching programme.</p><h3>Basic Qualifications</h3><ul><li>At least 12 years postgraduate medical experience, including at least 6 years in Cardiology</li><li>Full MRCP (or equivalent)</li></ul><h3>Main Duties</h3><ol><li>Review inpatients at Kingston Hospital with a bed base of 36 (together with a Consultant colleague) and provide in‑reach for Cardiology referrals.</li><li>Undertake cardiology outpatient clinics at Kingston Hospital.</li><li>Work with the Clinical Lead and service‑line managers to ensure the provision of high quality, effective care which meets operational standards.</li><li>Actively participate in education and training, medical/clinical audit, clinical risk management, clinical governance, and management activities of the service‑line.</li><li>Actively participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).</li><li>Manage own workload daily and prioritise tasks requiring immediate attention.</li><li>Provide appropriate mentoring of the new Specialist Grade within the Trust.</li></ol><h3>Person Specification</h3><h3>Clinical Experience</h3><ul><li>At least one year post‑graduate experience in general medicine</li><li>At least 12 years practice (continuous or aggregate) as a doctor post‑graduate, minimum 6 years in the relevant specialty</li><li>General training in cardiology to specialist level or equivalent</li><li>Ability to offer full and independent expert diagnostic opinion.</li><li>Can evaluate and manage a patient, formulate a differential diagnosis and initiate an appropriate management plan.</li></ul><h3>Management Skills</h3><ul><li>Able to communicate at a strategic and operational level</li><li>Attended management training course</li><li>Knowledge of finance/budgets</li></ul><h3>Experience in Training, Audit and Research</h3><ul><li>Demonstrable commitment and ability to teach and train undergraduates and junior doctors.</li><li>Experience of clinical audit.</li><li>Completed "Train the Trainers" course.</li><li>Relevant research articles in peer‑reviewed journals.</li></ul><h3>Personal Qualities</h3><ul><li>Demonstrate leadership skills within a multidisciplinary team.</li><li>Ability to motivate staff, facilitate appropriate changes in clinical practice and work as part of a team.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enthusiasm, and approachability.</li><li>Commitment to continuing professional development, revalidation, and clinical governance.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Full GMC Registration with License to Practice</li><li>Full MRCP or equivalent</li><li>Meets the criteria set out in the generic capabilities framework for specialist grade</li><li>Appropriate higher degree (e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent)</li></ul><h3>Disclosure and Barring Service Check</h3><p>This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) for criminal convictions checks.</p><p>Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust</p></div>
