Job Overview
Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Acute Care Inpatient Psychiatry for the Ablett Unit. There are two adult wards: 10-female beds in Dinas Female and 10-male beds in Dinas Male, plus an S136 suite. The Home Treatment Team also operates here, along with an 8‑bed male locked rehabilitation ward (Cynnydd) and a 10‑bed Older Persons’ functional ward (Tegid). The adult acute care service covers a 20‑bed adult ward and the Home Treatment Team, which can accommodate approximately 25 patients. The role provides patient‑centred recovery‑based care, acts as Responsible Clinician for roughly half of the adult acute care service and half of the HTT patients, and serves as the treating consultant and supervising doctor for junior doctors. Responsibilities include admissions oversight, continuity of care, discharge planning, and medical leadership in line with the Mental Health Measure (Wales) 2010.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria:
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
Desirable criteria:
* Higher degree or qualification in medical education, clinical research or management.
* MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
* Welsh AC Approval.
Eligibility
Essential Criteria:
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* Included on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of completing CCT.
* Approved Clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
* Approved under S12 or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
Desirable criteria:
* In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
Clinical Skills
Essential criteria:
* Evidence of training in core and specialist competencies for community psychiatry.
Desirable criteria:
* Experience leading a multidisciplinary team.
* Experience in community psychiatric practice.
