Estate Services plays a critical role in shaping residents’ everyday experience of Southern Housing. As the most visible frontline service, it’s often the primary way residents engage with us and judge the quality of our neighbourhoods.
We’re now recruiting to a newly created specialist role within our expanding East Sussex Estate Services team. This position holds full responsibility for leading bulk waste collection and waste management services across our estates, managing our Bulk Waste and Deep Clean teams to deliver a safe, compliant and resident focused service.
Based from our new Hastings office, this is a standout opportunity for a proactive leader to shape a growing service, work alongside established estate teams, and make a visible difference to the communities we serve.
From time to time, the post holder might be required to work from other company locations. On occasion you might be required to cover meetings outside core business hours.
This is a permanent, 35 hour per week contract.
You will need a full clean UK driving licence for this role as you will be given access to a company vehicle.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will lead the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of bulk waste collection and waste management services across our estates, using data‑led insight to forecast demand, identify hotspots and implement proactive interventions that prevent repeat issues. You’ll oversee the effective, efficient and well‑documented delivery of the Bulk Waste and Deep Clean teams, ensuring services remain flexible and responsive to changing estate needs while supporting wider estate management objectives. The role will also involve providing local management cover for Cleaning and Grounds Maintenance managers when required.
You’ll ensure your teams operate safely and compliantly, with all relevant risk assessments, health and safety training, lone working arrangements and PPE requirements in place, actively promoting a strong safety culture at all times. Working closely with the Service Charge team, you’ll provide accurate service delivery data to support transparency and full cost recovery. You’ll respond to enquiries from colleagues and residents, addressing issues promptly and communicating clearly, while carrying out regular estate inspections to identify service issues, communal repairs, compliance hazards or tenancy management concerns. Collaboration with other frontline teams will be key to driving improved estate standards, better service coordination and increased resident satisfaction.

* Experience working in a front line service environment, with a strong understanding of health and safety practices, including conducting risk assessments, adhering to COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations, managing lone working situations, and prioritising the safety of your team.
* Working knowledge of residential service charges and the ability to contribute accurate operational data to support cost recovery and transparency.
* Good IT skills, specifically Excel.
* Proven leadership skills, enabling you to recruit, manage, train, and motivate a team of staff effectively. You should have experience in fostering a positive work environment and promoting a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
