Description Due to significant growth in our water sector, a Project Quantity Surveyor role has become available to join our commercial team, working on the Northumbrian Water Framework (NWG). Costain have won extensive work across the water sector this year to support the AMP 8 investment cycle. We have been appointed by Northumbrian Water to the Living Water Enterprise to help shape and deliver its strategic infrastructure upgrade programme over the next 15 years. The role will support the team in the management of the works, including management of the main and subcontract accounts, providing commercial and contractual advice, seeking opportunities to deliver increased margin and provide coaching and support for the team members. This opportunity will help shape the outline and detailed design and build up target costs to be negotiated with the customer. The successful candidate will lead a team to deliver critical infrastructure to upgrade NWL assets, ensuring robust budgetary and programme controls in place and adhered to. Responsibilities Lead and develop the efficient and effective management of accurate, timely and compliant notices and correspondence and ensure compliance of all contractual activities on the project Subcontract Management including procurement, auditing, payments, change management, earned value reporting, forecasting, performance monitoring, monthly meetings, final accounts etc. Ensure contractual and commercial risks and opportunities are identified to the Project Director / Senior Commercial Manager and address in a timely manner Target cost pricing, negotiation and agreement Design management including budget control and fostering innovation, challenge and value engineering Ensure timescales for contract administration, commitments, actions and deliverables are met Management of the EW/Change control process & identification and pricing of contract change Producing budget estimates for the client Proactively liaise with site teams and reconcile weekly plant, material, labour against budget Collation/Submission of required evidence for main contract application for payment Assist with production of internal reporting Engage and assist team members in seeking personal development opportunities Qualifications Essential Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent Significant commercial experience with a demonstrable track record of achievement Civils experience Increasing knowledge of a variety of forms and options of contracts Advanced Excel use Team player Driven and thorough Analytical with good problem solving skills Good presentation skills and attention to detail NEC Contract experience Inquisitive Full UK driving licence Desirable Water sector experience Use of Contract Bee MRICS or CICES LI-JA1
