About us

We are UCL: a diverse community with the freedom to challenge and think differently. The world urgently needs solutions to diverse problems. UCL was founded 200 years ago on the generosity of a collective of people who believed in an institution that could drive forward those solutions. The world needed collective support then, and it needs it again now.

In response, UCL has launched "Here, it will happen," our biggest philanthropic and engagement campaign yet. "Here, it will happen" sets out our ambitions to solve global health, societal, climate and education challenges in UCL’s next century. Here, we have the determination to double down on our discoveries, translate our innovations into impact and inspire the citizens of the future.

There has never been a more exciting time to join UCL Advancement. We are a team of exceptionally ambitious, creative and passionate individuals who work together to achieve remarkable things with a global impact, and we would love for you to be part of this exciting journey and our success.

About the role

We are recruiting two Prospect Development & Insight Officers to join our high‑performing and supportive Prospect Development & Insight team as we embark on UCL Advancement’s landmark bicentennial fundraising campaign "Here, it will happen." Working collaboratively with our Heads of Prospect Development & Insight, you will work in partnership with our highly ambitious fundraising teams to identify and engage quality prospects, deliver accurate research and briefings, assist with prospect management processes, and maintain high‑quality data that drives strategic decision‑making. One Officer role will work predominantly with our Principal Gifts team, with the other role supporting our Major Gifts teams; however there will be ample opportunities for crossover and collaboration.

Alongside supporting us across the breadth of prospect development and insight activity, you will champion best practice in prospect management and research. That means safeguarding data integrity on our CRM and embedding processes that comply with GDPR and UCL’s ethical standards. You’ll also conduct targeted due diligence and briefing research, sharing findings in clear, compelling formats. Success in this role will see you providing high quality actionable prospect research and event briefs, making a positive contribution to prospect identification projects, forging collaborative relationships with Advancement colleagues, and elevating UCL’s philanthropic impact.

We pride ourselves on working in partnership and inclusively with all members of our fundraising teams and this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a real impact and play a pivotal role in delivering our fundraising goals, whilst also developing your skills across the spectrum of prospect development and insight activity.

We are happy to consider applications to work on a part‑time, flexible and job‑share basis wherever possible (minimum 0.8 FTE – equivalent of 4 days per week, stated salary to be pro‑rata). This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 20% on site. To find out more about the role, please contact either Jess Mirzai, Head of Prospect Development & Insight on j.mirzai@ucl.ac.uk or Jonathan Clark, Head of Prospect Development & Insight on Jonathan.f.clark@ucl.ac.uk. Please use the attach cover letter upload option to tell us how you meet the essential and desirable criteria in the person specification. For more information about UCL Advancement, please visit www.ucl.ac.uk/giving.

About you

We’re looking for a detail‑oriented and proactive individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and takes pride in delivering high‑quality work. You’ll have experience of conducting research and providing high quality, accurate written work, using excellent communication skills to present complex information clearly and engagingly to different audiences. With outstanding attention to detail and strong organisational abilities, you’ll manage priorities effectively and work to deadlines with confidence. You’ll bring a curious and analytical mindset, and an understanding of GDPR and data protection principles. Above all, you’ll be a team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and are passionate about fuelling a major campaign that will shape UCL’s next 200 years. We are pleased to accept applications from individuals who possess transferable skills and experience drawn from sectors outside of Higher Education.
