The role
As a Senior Engineering Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll lead high-impact engineering programmes that shape the future of the UK’s nuclear infrastructure—delivering success at every scale.
Day to day, you’ll lead the planning and management of multi discipline projects involving the coordination and integration of multi discipline tasks. This role leads the engineering team to deliver technical solutions to budget, targets, and estimating the engineering scope for Projects from concept design to full Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC).
* Lead and manage multi-disciplinary engineering teams to ensure timely, efficient delivery aligned with customer scope and expectations.
* Foster cross-functional collaboration across engineering and other departments to drive cohesive project execution and innovation.
* Build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring clear communication, issue resolution, and alignment on technical and delivery progress.
* Oversee technical quality and compliance, ensuring engineering outputs meet agreed technical standards and safety, ethical, and environmental requirements.
* Develop team capability and performance through resource planning, mentoring, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and engineering best practice.
Essential experience of the Senior Engineering Manager:
* An extensive record of managing engineering activities across all phases of EPC projects—from concept and FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) through detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
* Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop diverse engineering teams across multiple disciplines, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and project delivery.
* Experience managing complex engineering projects from concept to delivery, including budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
* Strong track record of building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, to ensure satisfaction and alignment on technical and business objectives.
* Deep understanding of engineering principles with the ability to review, challenge, and guide technical decisions, ensuring compliance with standards and best practices.
The role is on a full time, permanent basis (37 hours per week) and includes hybrid / flexible working.
Qualifications for the Senior Engineering Manager:
* Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in relevant engineering discipline with significant demonstrable experience
