Overview
Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated and resilient 1:1 Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant for a role in a primary school in the Wakefield area. This is a crucial position supporting one specific child with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
Responsibilities
* Provide bespoke one-to-one support to a pupil with specific SEN, helping them access the curriculum and achieve personal goals.
* Confidently implement a bespoke behaviour support plan and use de-escalation techniques to manage and diffuse challenging situations.
* Act as a consistent and trusted adult, providing calm emotional and pastoral support to help the pupil manage their feelings and anxieties.
* Foster the pupil's confidence and social skills, helping them to feel secure and included in the classroom environment.
* Willingness to assist with personal care duties as needed (advantage).
* Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive approach.
Requirements
* Demonstrable experience working 1:1 with children with complex SEN or challenging behaviour in a school or care setting.
* An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain a new one).
* Legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
* Compassionate, highly resilient, and patient nature.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly and effectively.
* Genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils and making a lasting, positive impact.
* Training in Team Teach, MAPA, or similar de-escalation techniques is highly desirable.
