Title: Fire Engineer Title: Fire Engineer Salary range: £35,000 to £50,000 per annum depending on experience Location : Glasgow or Leatherhead Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office and working from home. Closing date is 31st May but we may close sooner if we receive sufficient applications. We are searching for engineers with qualifications and/or experience in fire engineering or related field. You will join a team of experienced engineering consultants who specialise in a broad range of safety, simulation and modelling disciplines. Whilst this opportunity is focused on nuclear fire engineering, there are opportunities to work in other sectors (e.g. high-risk buildings, rail, defence) and in new markets relating to clean energy systems and renewables (e.g. hydrogen, and lithium-ion battery energy storage). Key Responsibilities: Provide a high-quality fire engineering service to our clients. Interact directly with a variety of clients across several highly regulated sectors (e.g. nuclear energy, defence, rail). Plan and deliver work, including attending client sites across the UK where required. Provide technical input into many areas of fire engineering e.g. fire modelling and simulation, fire strategy, fire testing, fire system design, fire safety case. Project manage a variety of projects with accountability for resource and budgets. Contribute to business development and manage enquiries with both new and existing clients. Requirements: Successful applicants will meet the following minimum requirements: PhD, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in fire engineering, or a demonstrable interest in fire engineering. Fire engineering experience (desired in high-hazard or highly regulated industries e.g. nuclear, petrochemicals, chemicals, defence and/or rail). Your experience might include fire safety case, fire strategy, or fire modelling and simulation. It is to your advantage if you meet any of the following additional requirements: • PhD, MSc or BEng Fire Engineering (or equivalence by experience). • Experience of fire modelling, such as NIST CFAST or FDS • Experience of undertaking DSEAR assessments • Working towards Chartership, ideally through the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE). • Experience of working on multi-disciplinary projects.
